Here is a new thread to inspire all of you forward thinkers out there - not much to do with kit cars but about this crazy world we live in.  Future Watch.  Please feel to contribute anything about our future below.  I have chucked in a couple below as starters.

Computer Games will be a lot more realistic:

The edge of reality is being pushed just a little further out.  Just as you think you knew about Virtual Reality, it became a bit more real.

Suits of body-armour are now being developed so that you can dress the part for battle.  They are visually impressive enough to bring small children to instant terror on first contact.  But this is not about being a Treckie and dressing the part - this is about joining the action and actually fighting the battles.  Actual weapons will be used.  It is not to say that swords will have sharpened blades but blows will be landed.  Firearms will "apparently" shoot and players will have complete feedback on their success and "injuries" via their contact-sensing armour.

I suppose this would be a good way of making people (who normally only move their thumbs) gain some exercise but I had to think of the mayhem in a teenagers bedroom after a high contact battle!!! :o :o :o

Just imagine the disclaimer as you sign-on:

"Supplier warns you this is real battle and is inherently risky.  Supplier shall not be held liable for any injuries that persist beyond the end of the game.  Any such injuries: from bruising, cuts, amputations and decapitations are absolutely not the responsibility of the game supplier.  Supplier also absolutely disclaims any liability for damage to property including but not limited to: Damage to walls,  furnishings, electrical and electronic equipment , the possible emission of gas and lethal explosion, fire and perforation of water services.  It is the responsibility of the game licensee to clear the area before entering virtual reality - non lethal force only - this includes any pets that may be perceived during gaming as shape-shifting predators.  In the event that Law Enforcement arrives it is the responsibility of players to recognise the difference between real officers and participants in the game.  No points will be awarded for resisting arrest and injuries thus incurred will not reset at game end and may result in lasting handicap or imprisonment.  Depending on your country actual execution might be enforced.  THIS GAME IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER EIGHT YEARS OLD."

On the first one, I got to try Occulus Rift goggles at my son's work open evening. The immersion is fantastic but the big downside is after only a few minutes you get enormous motion sickness and I'd be amazed if anyone could endure more than ten minutes without hurling. Except maybe rally co-drivers.

Electric bikes - anyone been watching their progress at the TT? Its quite incredible how they've come on in such a short time. There is no doubt that involvement in a high profile motorsport event is one of the best ways to develop cutting edge technology.

SPAXIMUS

Electric motors are awesome in the way they can deliver power. Having been at Santa Pod recently there was a VW bug all electric which was so fast to watch, but it was missing something, character.
Now for many young people when they perfect the batteries, electric will be a huge win for them as they will not want the aural pleasure we get as it will become unacceptable to want one other than as a curiosity. both ecology and the political class will end petrol engines for the masses in the foreseeable future.

big advances will be made in health, with enormous choices to be made as well. In my Fathers life time we have seen the age people die at go up by 15 years or so, 80 is now not unusual but what if that can become 100 as the norm? Will it be for all, or just those with a real worth or famous? Stem cell regenerative medicine will grow new spares for a perfect match, cancer will be beaten in many forms as we learn more. look back at the last 1oo years and then try to look forward. How much will they be able to slow down the aging process so that age does not mean creaky codgers with leaky bits.
War will still happen and we will have ever more creative ways to kill each other but who knows some alien master race may come and explain there is no god and stop half of the killings.
