Years ago I met Norman Conquest and especially funny because he lived in Hastings

I also worked for Arthur Price in my early days.  And I knew a guy called Peter Isles - he was always called Piles. 
Sympathising I said "that's not fair" and he said his sister was nicknamed Miss Isles. 

And a friend was born of Spanish parents with the surname Espin - bad anagram!

My Brother went to school with Robin Banks.  He preferred to be called Rob understandably.  His middle initial was R.  Duly he was entered in the class register as Banks, Rob R
