Hi guys,

I've got an MOT for  the mini due in a couple of weeks and need to find a good MOT'er.
Basically, I want a proper and thorough MOT, but, and heres the catch, kinda need a blind eye turning to the emissions.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the bristol area who may be able to help? Preferably somewhere where they have used before.

Ive seen good things said about FCM motorsport on here but wasnt sure if they would do this.

Any suggestions will be well appreciated

Cheers guys

Worth a call but I cannot say whether anyone I mention will turn any blind eye to any important eco friendly emissions levels that are obviously there to help the planet get better.

Interpro. Mention my name
FCM. Mention the club
Dave @ PC Motors Bishopston. Mention my name (i'm not as familiar with these guys but i do know them. )

FCM Motorsport.

BKCC discount £35.

A very fair professional test in which you can get in on the action rather than be stuck behind a glass screen.

The address is
Unit 1 Netham View Industrial Park
71 Netham Road
Bristol
BS5 9PQ

Tel 0117 941 3232 - Speak to John.

Cheers guys,

I'll have a look into these places. FCM may be the first place I try as they are closer to to me than interpro.

MOT's always haunt me ???

Quarrycars

I haven't had to put a car through a MOT for over 30 years!  What are the emmision requirements, do they check NOx, HCs and COs can be reduced by making the engine run better, NOx is a bit tricky though.  Do they do a loaded test on the rollers?  Do they check fuel filler caps?
One tip, always chenge the engine oil before taking it in for the test, a lot of HCs come from contaminated oil and it's contaminated the first time you start the engine!

I keep my oil changed pretty regular. last year i changed it after 600 miles.

With regrads to what they test and the numbersinvolved, I have no idea. All I do know is that a '97 mini is ment to have a catalytic convertor, but Ive taken mine off because of an engine change.

I've got an MOT with fcm motorsport tomorrow, so I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

You say you have changed the engine. Whenever I get my kitcar MOT they base the omissions on the age of the engine and not the age of the car, which means I am just about none applicable for omissions. In the past I have had to prove to the garage the age of the engine.

Ah.... I think Ive heard that somewhare before also. Not sure if I can prove the age of the engine. What will I need to do this? the engine number?

Cheers

Hi guys,

Just had the MOT, and passed.
Pretty close on the front brake pads apparently. So I've just ordered a new set and I'll be fitting them on Saturday.
The emissions passed so I'm guessing they took the date of the engine and not the date of the car for that test.
They seem a good bunch of lads up there.

YZFMINI

On the road for another year then.... 8)

Yep, you need the engine number and evidence of the engine manufacture date. If I couldn't do it this way my kitcar would not be on the road.
