"Well" I just popped along to the post office today to tax the Falcon......Quite a lump out the money at £205..... :(

It has come to something that my road tax now costs me almost two and a half times the amount of my insurance..... ::)

It just goes to show what a rip off country this really is, especially when every other yard there is a pothole big enough to rip open one of your tyres...... :o

When I was living in Spain a few years back the Spaniards were very excited and boastful that English money was paying for their new roads....And believe me the roads over there are fantastic now compared with ours..... >:(

Also, I cant work out why my camper van is  £200 to tax when it is much heavier than the Falcon.... :-\

Also on ebay there is a kit car that does not require road tax at all....!!!!!!!!!

While shopping at Morisons today me and the other half walked around the car park checking out the tax discs only to find there was so much difference between them all.
I have yet to get my head round to the way they work this out......... ;D

What are your comments about this, do you know how the system works.? :-*

yep totally agree it is such a rip off and all the duty we have to pay on fuel and its not like the public transport system is any good either

I do mine for the year and then send it back for a refund in the winter. That way I cause them extra work which makes me feel like I have got that extra bit of value for money + I usually keep the car on the road for nearer 8 months.

I like that idea feels like a small victory against them i suppose

Both of my vehicles have to be taxed on the 1st April, so its a bit of a sore point for me.

Get yourself a double decker bus if you want value for money - same as a car

Unfortunately most kit cars come in the old PLG (Private Light Goods) catagory rather than CO2 emmisions hence the rip off price.  Like nearly everyone else I have to pay £210p.a. (more than my insurance) but run of 8 months and reclaim the difference.

When you take into account the cost of getting a car through the new IVA test + your RFL the government certainly penalise the specialist car industry.
