I need to shorten a pinto sump and pickup, anyone have the dimensions please? Also I need a decent exhaust manifold if anyone has one for sale. Tempted to try one of the weld yourself kits, anyone done one? All this for 2L pinto going into a locost 7. Oh, and a type 9 cogbox any for sale? Cheers, Dave.

I did mine for the Locost, not the prettiest of welds, but it doesn't leak any more than a normal Pinto! :D

I think I might have the card templates I used somewhere, if I find them I can let you have them to do yours. As for the pickup, I just used a 'guesstimate' and some measurements and it seems fine. I made the sump about the same volume as the orignal by removing the 'hump' and filling in the rest to get a level belly.

BTW, you do not need to alter the dipstick at all contrary to popular belief, the oil level is only important to the level of the crank lobes and not the bottom of the sump. Don't mean to teach granny to suck eggs but I didn't know it when I first did mine ;)

I might have a manifold too, I'll let you know.

On my Hood it's been chopped but barely takes 3 litres of oil......not that I can lell most of the time as the dip stick was snapped off when I bought it and is jammed in the tube!!! :-[

Does the tube unscrew, push-on, or is it stuck in the engine......didn't like to force it.    ANYONE KNOW PLEASE.

When I bought my type 9 from Camber Dave he offered me a choice of 2.

It might be worth getting in touch as the one I got from him works perfectly.

The dipstick tube is an interference fit. I gripped mine near the bottom with a good pair of mole grips, wiggled it side to side to loosen it and gradually eased it out.  I had to remove it as it was bent and dented when I got the block, all straitened out now.  ;) Dave
