'The Gaffer'

Just got this email from the police so thought it would be a good idea to post it here..

We're calling on members of the public and classic car collectors to be vigilant following the theft of an Aston Martin DB vantage from the Westerleigh area.

The car which is similar to those seen in James Bond films was taken form a secure unit at Henfield Business Park, Westerleigh, Bristol, between September 29 and October 11. Appeals so far have failed to locate the car.

Detective Constable Celia White said: "This is a rare car that is worth hundreds of thousands of pounds and I believe someone knows where this car is.

"I would urge car dealers and collectors who may have seen this car or who may have heard that there is one for sale to come forward and contact us. Your information will be treated in confidence."

Anyone who has information about the car pictured is asked to call South Gloucestershire CID on 101 quoting crime reference number 121329/12. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. We never ask your name or trace your call. Call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org We never ask for your name or trace your call.

I fear you are right, it would have to be for a very discreet collection though and far too valuable to break for parts.

Makes you wonder if it was true pro's who stole it already with a buyer ,or a couple of amateurs who have the car still in a lockup wondering what the hell to do with it :(

If it was kept in a secure unit then I would be surprised if it was 'amateurs'. Must admit though, if I had a car worth that much I would have made a serious effort to make it as 'un-nickable' as possible, got to be worth at least a tracker system and top-notch alarm/immobiliser?
