As some of you know my daily runner has been costing me money lately. Got one more thing to try and if that dont work then she's going.
I think about going down the leasing route.
Has anyone had any bad issues with leasing companies?
Done the usual google search for pros and cons. I don't do more than 10,000 mile a year so no chance of being hit with a sur-charge.
Look forward to your views. :D

I lease my transporter from VW who do a good deal with all servicing, tyres and breakdown cover included on a 5 year term, Peugeot do a similar deal called just add fuel.

If you are looking for trouble free motoring for a few years you could look at leasing / contract hire with maintenance thrown in. You could opt for extended warranty too dependent on car, dont forget though, you will probably have to give the car back at the end of the lease or agree to buy it or pay a balloon payment or use it as deposit to finance your next car. As long as the monthly figures add up leasing isnt a bad thing and you get a new car every 3-4 years.

Cash dosent have the buying power it used to as margins are smaller these days so dealers actually prefer finance as they make more money from it - and its possible you will get a better deal on finance.

If you dont want to be tied into a dealer and have the cash then its a close call, but if I wanted a brand new car I would probably lease and maybe use cash if it were a cheaper second hand one.

I contract hire my Nissan Navara Pick up on a 3 year non maintenance deal. As it is classed as a commercial vehicle I can reclaim all the VAT and the hire payments are totally allowable as a business cost, making it a really good deal if you have your own VAT registered business. The only thing I have to pay for is Insurance & servicing costs -  it's only had the one service at 18K miles and the tyres might just go the distance, I soon have to decide wether to extend the contract in August or pay another deposit (about £1k) and have a new truck, if I keep what I've got it will need another service, a set of tyres and it will be out of warranty so a new one looks like a better deal. My only concern if any reconditioning fees will be applied, and that will depend on how picky the inspection is regarding small marks and scratches.

I would defo do it again as it's carefree motoring with no worries about depreciation or buying and selling vehicles, they even deliver it to your door!. I went to main dealers to look and have test drives and then trawled the internet for the best deals as the dealers are a bit expensive unless there is some specials on. I ended up with Nationwide Vehicle Contracts as they are very competitive, one of the biggest and seem to get what ever your looking for. Have a look at their website it's pretty comprehensive.

To cure your current car trouble Rob P was trying to get rid of some old petrol............................. :D :o
