Some of you may know that so far this year after ever track day I have found my alternator bracket is either cracked or ever snapped at the welds.

So I decided to make my own without any welds & some nice big radius on the joints. So I cut some alloy block to size.

& started filling it.

I made it thicker & wider where I could due to the tight space it will be going in.

After that I sprayed it a few times over the day with a clear lacquer & keeping it in our little oven on a low heat to help bake it nice & hard.

Can you see it ok?  ;D
Well it is on now & the alternator fits great. All I have to do is bring the right length bolts home that I left in work to try it out. So our Thursday meet will have to be to trail run.  8)

PS. This bracket may be a lot bigger but it weigh's 20 grams less than the steel one. That should please Hairy Santa 8)

Nice job .... what did you cut it out with as that is a lot of aluminium to remove.

I used a bandsaw to get a big chunk out first then used a milling machine mate.
