Does anyone have a set of 7x13 alloy wheels kicking around they don't need/want to sell?
They need to fit a Ford, i.e. 108mm PCD.
Ideally I want something with a ET30 offset but I'm flexible.
They're for trackdays so don't need to be show condition.

Have been looking myself, there seems to be loads of old Capri wheels about but they only have an offset of ET15 pushing the wheels out too far, fouling bodywork etc.
The best alternative I have found are new Team Dynamics at R&R Alloys for £330 a set with various offsets upto ET 35. I am told these wheels will clear std Sierra calipers as well as Wilwoods.

At £330 for rims + £80-£100 for 2nd hand slicks it works out about the same as a new set of 888's, and much lower tyre costs for future track days - and alot more fun ;D

Hi Ed,
Sounds like a good plan. I didn't think R&R stock Team Dynamics though.

Lucky Ed

Have checked R&R's ebay website this morning and they are listed @ £330 + £25 delivery

Wether they actually have any is another matter.

Only problem I have with TD wheels are the offsets and dish...

I bought a set of CXR's from here last year and had them machined slightly to fit...

My fronts are 7" and rears are 9" if its grip your after.... you'll be sorted...

If you buying cheap 2nd hand rs wheels for example then fine but shelling out £300 - 400 I'd seriously look at wider widths.. I think an 8" will go under the rear arches without needing to modify or get wider ones...

your welcome to try mine on for size if you'd like...? my car's on axle stands at the mo

Lucky Ed

Thanks for the kind offer, but looking at your pics I could only dream of getting your 9" rears to fit.

My MAC1 has got really wide track, so I am stuck with offsets of et35+. The 7" rims on the front are already
tight, and the rears have a bit of space inboard so an 8" might fit but would need an offset of at least 55+
which might be a bit difficult.

If  I'm stuck with 7" rims what width slicks will fit?

Thats more like the weight of a magnesium wheel.. 3.8kg is very light..

and without the hassle...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the hassle with magnesium wheels?

RobC

They need crack testing every year... and need storing in cotton wool :)

Basically they break down and become unusable over a period of few years

just not idea...

Ive been dealing with magnesium for nearly 30 years now. YES they do need extra care and attention paid to them. Crack checking (thats what I do) should be done but perhaps not yearly. It's a tricky one to answer in full. We did advise race teams to return there wheels at the end of the season for a refub. You must take into account that a wheel going round the IOM is put through a lot of stress and grief. However under normal road use most people will only under take this service ever 5 years or so. Or if the paint is chipped. Magnesium loves water so if exposed (bare mag) it will corrode a lot faster than that of an alloy wheel.
I've done wheels that are 40+ years old and they are fine. On the other hand I have done wheels a few years old and they are hanging..
Look after them and they will look after you.. ;D

Got myself some wheels at last.  4 off 7x13 Image split rims.  Look great but a couple have damage from a slight argument with a tyre wall.

Took the tyres off and stripped down the rim.

Finally, re-assembled with new rims and cleaned up. 8)

Look like new.  But I have a bit of a problem now.  They're far too nice to put slicks on.  ::)
Any one got any 7x13 for sale!?

RobC

who did the work...?

David H
