Who is interested in going to the Exeter Kit Car Show this year 26th - 27th Oct 2013?

I see from their flyer that they are now calling it the South West Specialist Sports Car Show. Attendance has been dwindling at this show year on year so I wonder if they are trying to attract a new audience. Shame that its still free entry for kit car owners but but sports car owners :(

It is a shame.. May be they should change the event to a more summertime month..
People like me only go if they know its going to be dry and warm.  :(
Could always use the daily car I guess..

YellaBelly

The last couple I've been to have been a bit low on attendance. Not a bad show but just the wrong time of year I reckon.

WALNUT

I will prob. go, theres a few things I want.

It is at the wrong time for alot of kit car owners. I don'tmind some damp weather but thats abit far for me to go if it's raining hard.  ::)
I will be seeing what it's like first then deside.  :)

paintman

Did not compare with the Bristol Classic Car Show this year which was massive with hundreds of cars and lots of stalls. ::)

SPAXIMUS

It has sadly gone down hill but it used to be a great end of season show. I bought my Westfiled kit there a few years back. It went down hill as fewers manufacturers could be bothered to make the Journey South. As that happened fewer supporting stands came and now it is a shadow of the heydays. Having said all that for a day out chating with others and looking around the car park it is fine even if you have to pay to get in.

Iancider

Hey,

A bit dismal chaps!  ;)

If it is going downhill we need to turn up en-masse don't we?.  I went last year and it was dry and sunny but especially bleak.  It is a bit of fun fighting adversity and it makes the coffee so much better.  Hoping the Cornish Pasty stand is there again - pretty darn decent grub :P.  There is more than just kit cars and the guy in the cut-down VW (Chevy) camper van burning rubber was impressive.  I met a nice chap there of 78 , wondering if if he could tune a few more horses from his lime green Imprezza - talking in glowing terms of beating just about everybody away from the lights - I guess  methanol fumes keep him young at heart.  There were a small cluster of vintage cars and seemingly some genuine super-cars.  And then after that a good rummage around in the sheds was good fun.

Okay I got chilblains and lost the ability to speak but it was fun!  ;D

If I can get an IVA in time I'l join you in style.  If not I will go in the old tin-can but I promise to open the windows and not turn the heater and on so that I can share the experience!  ;D

Moleman

I don't mind the cold, Some of us even went to the club meets in the winter at -9degree's in our kits with out roof's or doors.  :o :D
I don't even mind getting wet. Just rather get there dry to start with.  ::) :D So I havent ruled it out yet.  ;)

Moleman

Moleman

Not this time, I'm SORN at the moment, can't really afford the Tax and I'm spending all my spare time on the Midget so not been able to sort the little issues on the Locost. Once that and the Midget are sorted I'll see if I can re-tax it.

Moleman

No probs John. Thanks for letting me know.  ;)

Jagodo

Hi,

sorry that I missed this thread.

I will be going on Saturday (I think). I will be taking my Dutton Legerra for its first meeting anywhere. I am expecting to meets a handful of other Duttons there. You guys wont have seen my car yet because I never get to any local meets - I play volleyball at Portishead every other Thursday (which has always clashed) and I have family over every other Sunday (which also always seems to clash). I am keen to meet up and/or travel in convoy.

I have only had my Legerra since February and it has been giving me all sorts of trouble ever since. I think that I now have it under control, until something else goes wrong.

I am in Patchway and I will be travelling down fairly early - leaving at 8:30. I will be using my cruise control (a cushion under my right knee) in order to keep it down to 60-65mph otherwise the roof gets un-poppered. If it is bright then I might put the top down with my flying helmet and bomber jacket on. I want to leave early because if I am the first to breakdown then I won't have to wait so long for the RAC!

Moleman

Hi Jagodo. I was going to give it a few more days to see what the weather is up too.
I think there is normally a meeting point for this is Taunton Dean services?

What is everyone planing to do for this one then?

What day is best for everyone?

Are you guys waiting to see which would be the better day?

The M5 is the fastest route but would you rather take the a roads?

Please give me your thought on this one? :D

WALNUT

I was leaving it to see what day is best ( weather wise )Im the past we have always met up at the Gordano Services, and picked up people on the way down at diff. points
                                                                                                               Walnut

dave_bence

Like Walnut, I'll decide on Friday, based on the forecast.

Whichever day I go, I'll go via the M5, stopping at Gordano and probably Taunton Deane services on the way.

Moleman

Ok. That sounds like a good plan to me.  :D

So which ever day is best we can meet up at Gordano services then down to Tauton Dean to meet up with the other guys.

Does 9am at Gordano sound ok with everyone? I'm happy to go earlier if required?  ;D

Moleman

Still not sure on the weather yet. but I think the clocks go back sunday so this might help anyone who don't like the early starts! :)

Jagodo

Currently it is looking like both days will be overcast and dry but with rain in the early hours of Sunday. Sunday is looking like being windier. I'm still going on Saturday unless the weather changes significantly because my in-laws are coming here on Saturday to see our new puppy. I won't be missed on Saturday - they can leave the washing up until I get home!

Meeting at Gordano services for 9am seems fine.

Don't know what you mean? ;)

Moleman

#32
I think you do Mark.  :P

I still dont know which day i can do yet as i may have to go to Weymouth either sat or sun. so still unsure.
9am at gordano services sounds, then meet up at tauton dean service for 9.30-10am I guess?

Both days still looking unsettled though? ::)

Jagodo

From Gordano, it is 24 miles to the Sedgemoor Services and another 22 to Taunton Deane and then a final 25 to the Exeter Westwood Centre. So leaving Gordano at 9am we should expect to get to Taunton Dean in time for 9:45, then get to Exeter at 10:15. Add to that the time for chatting at each meeting place, so 10:30 looks achievable as long as we have no bad luck.

WALNUT

Sat. looks the best day for me. So I will be on the car park at Gordano just before 9.00
( The car park not the lorry park )

fletch_306

Sat looks like the only day i can do too. i will meet at Taunton deane services if thats ok. just let me know what sort of time and i will see you guys then.

Fletch

WALNUT

Like Jagodo says, should be at Taunton Deane about 9.45

Anyone else up for the Sat.

Yep, I'll join you at Gordano services tomorrow just before 9.00

Moleman

I was going to go. But change of plan for me. I'm off down Weymouth to help one of our members pick up a car.  :)
I still may go sunday but to be honest it ain't looking good for sunday as far as the weather is looking.  ::)
