Replacement injectors.

Can anyone me advise on what I should do please?

Last May I had to have all four Injectors on my van replaced costing me £1500. I was told it is a common vault with all vauxhall vivaro, Nissan's & Renault Trafic vans. As water seems to get into the injectors from the windscreen from time to time due to bad design.  :o

The work came with a parts warranty for 12 months or 12,000 miles. I've done about 3000 miles & they are only 10 months old. As you can guess the van has gone to the garage again with the same problem as last year & I have now been told 3 of the 4 injectors have failed due to water damage.  >:(

I am now being told that Bosh will not replace them as the parts have failed due to water damage & not due to faulty parts!
Any thoughts on this guys? What do you think? What would you do? Is it just one of those things? or am I able to fight this some how?

Looks like I own to vehicles that cant go out in the wet!  >:( :'(

Thanks Colin.  :)

Might be worth a phone call to the citizen advice bureau,They might be willing to write a letter to bosch which would carry a bit of clout to your case, just a thought.  :)

Colin,

I got this type of response last year with an inherent fault on my tin-top.  It was a design defect that was walking wounded from manufacture  and on average failed at around 60,000 miles but 100% left the factory with the fault.  I was faced with a £2,500 bill because mine failed at 62,000 miles.  I promosed the manuafcutrer that I would blacken their name all over the internet and would let the World know that their product was rubbish and they would not honour a guarantee on factory defects - no lies just publish their letter and my comments.  The bill came down to £740 - labour only.

You have strong grounds here because cars and vans are designed to go out in the wet and it would be perfectly reasonable to believe that injectors would survive normal water exposure unless they expect you to drive around puddles.  Tell them that you think the the product is of unmerchantable quality and you intend to pursue claim against then via the small claims court (not expensive and you can self represent).  I tend to give three chances.  Let then tell you it is not in warranty (chance 1 gone), then write to them again and say you do not accept it because water is a normal hazard of normal motoring and should they not be willing to modify their position you purse the claim via trade bodies (chance 2) and ultimately the small claims court (I think it will be about £30 and a couple of hours invested - most reasonable claims succeed and most defendants settel before it goes to court)

I looked this up - it is an intrinsic problem with corrosion on the Nissan V9r Engine fitted.  They corrode in place and are tricky to remove but t is a matter of breaking down the corrosion to free them.  For a DIY job the are only £140 on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/vauxhall-vivaro-injectors.  There is a You tube video on this
and here is a DIY tool to do the same - nether of these are good vids but it shows how it is done.

Good luck
Ian

What sort of damaged have the injectors got? Is it water damage to the electrical parts
or siezure of the injector in the head?

Either way £1500  :o !!  Siezed injector removal £50 to £70 each. Set of injectors £100 ish.

I fell out with Bosch 30 years ago over an electric drill, never bought Bosch since.

All they have said is that it is water damage at the moment. so as they got wet it's not a faulty part. As they shouldn't have gotten wet. I will take the old one's off them & see what I can do about it.

if you need an injector puller (you will need it if taking them out yourself without damaging them) give me a ring before 3pm tomorrow and i'll grab the one I've rented to one of my customers for you.
