He "endangered many lives".  Yes true.  He deserves to be punished, sure.  But I would suggest doing the same thing on the public road is far more dangerous and I don't see prison sentences handed out to your average 'Joyrider'.

I spent about ten minutes trying to come up with something clever and car related about his 'rear end' getting twitchy after a visit from big Johnny the cell block bad ass and his 'big end reboring tool', but gave up in the end and settled on the Jimmy Savile line

Well,

I think he was lucky to avoid suspension.  Now he's getting a brake in jail he'll be avoiding tight corners and walking roundabout to avoid hydraulic fluid in the back alley.  It could be a bumpy ride and he would be wise to clutch his gaiters and check his nuts are tight.  He needs to avoid giving false indications to the winkers and avoid anything to do with a horn.  Special care should be taken when he is changing gear or using oil.  When he gets started it will all feel a little tight but with a little run-in and a change of oil the pistons and rings should fit well.
