Watch out for 20mph in Bristol

Be aware of the many 24 hr 20mph speed limits in Bristol.  Some of them will seem like a complete hazard when the road is empty and the cyclists are zooming past.  The repeater signs are typically 8-10 feet up so very hard to see.

Take Anchor road - this is now 20 mph from the Grosvenor Casino all of the way through the centre and up to St Jame Barton roundabout.  Today I noticed a speed survey which is two rubber strips across the road outside At Bristol.  If multiple cars have been passing the speed limit then expect that mobile speed cameras will appear soon.  Hotwells road remains 30mph but that always seems equally hazardous.  A camera there will gain a rich harvest when the roads are quiet.  But look on the bright side they will be nicking a lot of cyclists too!

Also watch out around Queens square for the almost unobservable 20mph signs.

Our motorways are getting the same treatment with invisible average speed cameras on the rear of overhead gantries.  Some motorway sections are now trawling thousands per month.

Please post here any other camera and limit warnings
