Harkness discounts don't work any more

Just thought I'd mention it - Harkness tyres doesn't exist any more so the club discount doesn't work either. Apparently Steve Harkness sold the business a while ago but still traded in competition tyres separately. The premises in Chipping Sodbury has now dropped the Harkness name altogether and is now called Hatters Lane Tyres. Apparently (unconfirmed) Mr Harkness now works for the competition arm of one of the major tyre manufacturers (Pirelli?)

For club discounts on tyres you'll need to just use Brunel now. Might be worth removing the Harkness logo from the club discounts section of this site?

I have always found Cabot Tyres in Totterdown to be the cheapest, a lot of the Taxi's use them ... I don't even shop around these days

I called them a couple of weeks ago as I was after some slicks.  They gave me Steve's mobile (never returned my call).  Shame, as I wanted to pop over and have a look out the back.

One of the local 'hell's angels' biker boys local to me said exactly the same thing to me a few weeks back. He spoke very highly of them.

I suspect it has been this way for some time, the last time I popped into Harkness at Sodbury a few (maybe 5 or 6?) months ago and asked to speak to someone about track day tyres they looked at me as if I was speaking a foreign language  :(

Do you still need some Rob?

Yes. My fronts are toast after Combe. Probably get some new rears too. I'm after Michelins 16/53 front, 20/54 rears.

Thanks for the heads-up. Will do.

You are probably better off phoning. I did and got quoted over the phone. Your size will be ok I think but some sizes have to be collected from the warehouse. Got mine from them no problem.

Agreed, Brunel can get pretty busy at times. Don't forget to mention you are a BKCC member for preferential rates 8)

I know a local bloke who will get you some for a fiver each but you have to supply the dozen house bricks and trolley jack, they always seem to come with free alloys too  ;D :o
