Projector headlights

Anyone in the club got those fancy projector headlights fitted to their car? I think they are mainly from bikes? The streetfighter look I think people call it?

Just wondered if they were any actual use as lights rather that for 'fashion'??

The ASBO2 (the yellow one - calm down Colin!) has them fitted. I think they look ok, quite aggressive. Less drag too maybe?

Projectors are at the core of most car headlights now.  They are separate pods for dip and main.  The core is a standard part and different shells can be added typically for mc use.  Biggest advantage is that both the dips and the mains can be on at the same time when using main beam - much more light.  Typically they are H1 or H7 simple bulbs.

Thank you Ian, a mine of info as always  :)

FHO i've been looking at these for a while for just the reasons you outline. I'm looking at a £117 per pair, i think they are expensive, may be due to popularity.
I love the look. Just need to save up.

These are the ones Im going to fit.

They seem to vary quite a bit in price. When you say a pair do you mean a pair of single lights, 'cos they come in singles and in sets of two, ie a main beam and full beam unit as one set. If it's the latter then that seems a good price to me as I've seen them for well over £200!

Where are they from BB?

I can't decide which I prefer on my car the ovals or the projectors. Here are a few pics of how different they look on the yellow ASBO. The one good thing about the large oval headlights is they have an orange indicator light in the rear of the case which is easily visible from the cockpit so I can see if I've left them on without taking my eyes off the road to look at the cabin control/light and they give very good visibilty in the dark too.........

The ones I posted are ebay.
I don't see how those oval ones work.
The reason they are called projector is because they have a big round lense in front.
These are compromised by their shape.
Not saying I don't like them tho.

Brandy Barrel

Just had an even closer look at the oval lights
Definitely not projector .....

'Mendip Wurzel'

I reckon the two individual lights look better .... more aggressive

I like the fact you can see your indicators from the driving seat, I'm always leaving them on.

I think Fullpint had some 'different' type of headlights. Apparently they were very good except when it got dark! :-X

Iancider

Its no only how they will look but how they will sound!

They are going to whistle at the speeds you will be going!

It's because he drives faster than the speed of light and the headlamps can't keep up  ;D

It's commonly known as 'the speed of dark'  :o :P

It has come in handy but I guess you could always fit some small led indicators? I have some nice ones on the Tiger, they are very neat and small but could be seen from the cockpit in certain cars I'm sure if positioned high enough relative to your viewpoint.

Very good price on 1st ones but is that at the expence of quality I wonder?

I have an LED secuirty light outside the back of my house, it is MEGA bright! LED technology as come on so much over the years it seems, I'm sure they used to be rubbish!

damouk

As you know Steve I have the same ones as on the yellow asbo, but mine have a shutter to do dip/main so I only have one lamp a side

Facial Hair Optional

What's the visibilty like at night Damo?

damouk

Not bad tbh, perfectly acceptable at motorway+ speeds there was also a hid option available if that's your thing

HID? Have you got a link pls mate? They must be super bright?!

I like the single units, very neat but I think the benefit of the twin units is that you can have both main beam and full beam on at the same time?

I presume you have seen this picture mate?  https://www.flickr.com/photos/67147237@N03/15520978311

Taken by someone called 'shagracer' ! Looks like Queen Square but not the normal ADC guy who takes them. This guy has thousands of pics on his flickr page including one of Colin's Westie.

If you look at the link Ian put up below
http://furoreproducts.co.uk/projector-headlights/49-photon-twin-projector-headlamps.html

I got them from this guy he sells on eBay or did and had lots of options.

You are right having 4 bulbs in the front of your car is going to be brighter than two it's all a swing and 1 roundabout. You can indeed have dip and main on its just how you wore them.

Yep seen that one a while ago, I think it's was the first queens square I went to, I think there were a couple of other club cars there as well
