A nice Jeep/Moke type kit for sale on PH

Speed is not eveything, I think one of these would in some ways be more fun (and maybe used more) than a 7 or other type of more common kit car? Sadly I have nowhere to keep one atm or I would seriously consider something like this.

These were truly one of the worlds worst kit cars. They had ladder type chassis and the body is made of plywood and aluminium for the curved bits.

If my memory serves they were created near Sheffield (hence the white rose name) and were plan based.

Running gear is all Escort. for that money you could buy the worlds best Rickman ranger.

Gosh Spaximus, you might be right - I don't know this one.  But if all kit car builders were sensible then there would be very few kit cars and the world would be a poorer place.

Adrian and Ian, you have completely lost me on this one!! 

The thread (that I started!) is about a Jeep/Moke type car for sale, the key word there being 'type'. I am lost as to how I have been off off topic when my only post was the original one that staretd the topic off? Ian have you been on that darned cider again mate? (btw, apologies for not making the MX5 jobby today, work reared it's ugly head once again. Did you and the lads get that engine in straight eventually?? Dammit, gone off topic good and proper now haven't I!!! No mention of King whatsisname please Ian!!  )

I must admit I didn't really get Adrian's "Moke  " post. I hope you didn't take offence mate as none was intended, hence the word 'type' in the post title. Merely my way of saying they are kind similar, ie Jeep/Landy/Moke type things as opposed to a 7 style car for example. I certainly was not comparing your wonderful Moke to the car in the advert, different league, even I know that.

Ian is correct of course, I do deviate and I do it deliberately. My personal view is that if all you can do is talk explicitly about the thread topic the thread usually soon dies a death and quickly gets very boring too.

Try deleting all the threads with topic deviations and see how many are left. At that point I will rest my case!! 

We all do it from time to time (even you moderators!!!) but OK I do it more than most. Hey so I'm a rebel, maveric or whatever. One of us has to be, lol!! I'm happy to take the job guys

Don't think the naughty step is required here mate. If you want to talk about something to do your shopping in and carry your granny in the back on a wet day then go for it. Its a kit anyway and that's what we are all about .

More like a Jago than a Moke anyway.

So, does it look more a Moke TYPE or a 7 TYPE? There's only one way to find out

That does sound pretty awful! Nothing like a Moke then (shall I get a shovel to dig myself in deeper!?) 

I had never heard of a Rickman Ranger until this day either.

The Rickman Ranger came from the very famous Rickman bros who made motorcycle chassis that are held in high regard. They came out as an alternative to the Suzuki jeep and developed, convertible, long wheel base and a quirky motorhome version. They were and still are good daily transport, one I know of has been radically lowered and is used on track days where it does embarrass a few drivers.

Around South Yorkshire there was also a similar car, called the Beaver, but though very good, did not sell.

Also in South Yorkshire was Carlton mouldings, who built the Carlton Commando range again a jeep thingy if you squinted.

Then there was the Dutton Sierra, which fell out of the ugly tree, a high ugly tree.

It seemed around the 80's it was the thing to build as people could then build a decent family car which was not pig ugly for reasonable amounts.

On the Moke, there have been several attempts to replicate AMC cub, Scamp, Foers but they never quite measure up in anyway.

However the Moke has a dark side, watch any James Bond film with Roger Moore and every baddies lair always has henchmen driving around the underground lair in them, the chosen transport for megalomaniacs?
