Can you switch the current in an electric reverse gear on a BEC so that it drives the car forward ? would that make it a hybrid ?

Reduced TAX & free congestion charge ?

Ha, interesting point Phil.

Trouble is most of the reverse systems rely on primitive starter motor technology and gear meshing so therefore will only work in one direction according to the direction the motor is fitted.

Most BEC's only use a small battery too so you wouldent get very far.

I wish there was a better way.

Quarrycars

Tried to argue that a winch on a Land Rover made it a hybrid ;D The vehicle can travel the length of the winch cable under electric power but I suppose if you crank it in gear it is the same thing! A chap in California has a New Beetle with a jet engine in it, claim's it is a dual fuel hybrid 8)
