Had to put my Fiat Scudo in the garage 'cause of a turbo fault....would not boost.

They had it last THURSDAY till TODAY trying to find the problem!!!

This was no back street garage but a Fiat main dealer (commercial with all the gear).

They at last found the problem.......a corroded wire to the EGR solenoid which was cutting the voltage down to 3 volts not 12.

Total bill for job.......£385 :o and they had the cheek to say they did not charge me the full ammount. (it should have been £70 an hour) :o :o

I think for a main dealer, you got off lightly  ::)

Even though it was a small part it's the time you pay for  >:(

What pi**ed me off was they appeared to have no idea what the problem was until I suggested that the Egr solenoid might be faulty.
I knew about this because my regular garage looked at it first and they said there computer threw up a fault code for it, but felt they did not have the best software to diagnose it correctly.......They never even charged me for the diagnostic analysis!! >:(
Why am I paying £70 an hour for incompetent motor engineers!! >:(

Main dealers do take the pi** somtimes.

I have warranty on my van for another 1500 miles. Lucky my aircon has just packed in now.

Once warranty is up, no way will I use a main dealers.

Join a Fiat forum and find a good independant engineer :)

Look for the Fiatecuscan program (freeware) and get a KKL OBD2 cable from ebay (around £10) and you can run your own diagnostics.
If you need more info about the program/cable let me know

Sorry
First for the delay in reply
Second for the question
I know of some freeware diagnostic software but they are all for the Fiat group (I drive a Alfa Romeo)

Why don't you try one of these : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GARAGE-CAR-DIAGNOSTIC-FAULT-CODE-READER-SCANNER-TOOL-/180497243291?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2a06795c9b  they are very handy and cheap the first time you use it you got your money back.
