Gear Extension

I've been looking at making the gear change lever extension that David Jenkins of the Locostbuilders forum did (http://www.lathyrus.eu/ - look under 'Specialist Tools and Parts', 'Ford 5-speed gearbox extension'). But I am neither rich enough to own a lathe, or clever enough to use one! Does anyone have the knowledge and/or capability to turn a shaft to suit?

Yep, that's the boy Bri.

Thing is, I have the 3mm plate, the rest, apart from the shaft, is stuff that's 'robbed' from the original gearbox selection shaft.

Not too worried about having made it, but I'm sure it won't cost me anywhere near what they cost to buy.

Oh, almost forgot......I'm also a tight git :D
