I am about to clean the airfilter on my Westy.  Should I oil it after I have given it a good clean??

Thanks for any advice.  MMM

Moleman

Sorry I can't help mate.
Does this mean your westy is running again now?  :)

Grin-a-lot

I know you can get a spray that is supposed to cover the filter.  Not sure if its worth doing or not though...

Hope it should be running this weekend.  Andy from AB has just sent me another engine!!  It looks very tidy and will just needs finishing off before I fire her up.  Fingers crossed and lets hope for better weather this year ...

How is your Westy running?  Been out much?

MMM

Moleman

It's been on afew runs. Had a trackday already this year & got one this monday mate.  :)

madmarkymark

How was the track day?  Did it stay dry for you?

It went really good thanks. It stayed dry all day. Only had one moment on my second run. I suddenly span going down the straight towarda the pits & ended going sideways over the freshly ploughed infield. It was a hairy moment doing about 50mph sideways hoping im not going to dig in the soil.  :o
we got covered in mud but everything was fine.  ::)
The head marshal said he has never seen anyone go that far infield. As well as the fact they have tractors for ploughing the field so i don't have too.  ::)

I'm pleased to say while they red flagged it, they went out to find someone had bumped some fluid over the straight, which made me feel better as i couldn't work out why it just spun going down a straight, not braking, turning or accelerating that hard.  :o

After the mud clearing it was all systems go & a good day of flying around the track.  ;D

I will be spending the next few evening cleaning under the westy though.  :-[
Do you need any top soil for your garden?  I might even have some spuds in the engine bay?  :P
I will check my go pro when the westy is cleaned up & stick it on the forum.  :)

'The Gaffer'

Nice to know how a spin was induced, I'm sure I must have hit a few oil spills in the past.

Moleman

I wish I could say all the others was down to that aswell.  :D

madmarkymark

great to hear you had a blast and even managed to collect some interesting flora and fauna!!!  I have seen a Golf GTI hit a ploughed infield side on - he wasn't that lucky  :o   4 Barrel roles later he ended up on what was left of the floor plan minus all glass / wheels and a lot of the night before's curry  :'(

My Westy is fully up and running - it just needs an MOT and I am legally back on the road.  Hopefully sort that this weekend and then its fingers crossed for some dry weather...
