Blow the dust off

Hi everyone, sorry not been around much lately, its time to blow the dust off the cobra and get on the road, not had chance for a drive for months now. One question, had an oil change around 12 months ago, only did around 1500 miles last year but is it best to do a routine oil change on the V8 or is this a bit of an overkill given the low mileage? Cheers Tony

Richard

Saw one black Caterham blowing "dust off" over Mendips this afternoon.

If your engine was new or re-furb'd recently I'd go for a change if not I'd be tempted to leave it until 3,000 miles, just my opinion, suspect you'll get the full variety of answers.

Would have been a good afternoon to warm the beastie up, that lovely cold air, dry roads and a little sunshine.

Hi there stranger ;) Nice to see you out and about again.

Personally I would have thought your oil would be fine, probably wouldent do any harm to change it just to be sure though. I have heard of odd stuff like condensation forming in the sump over winter but couldent say for sure wether that actually happens or not.

Hi Tony,

I would just change the filter, that should be good enough

If you wanted, drain off the engine oil once its warm in to a very clean drain tray and let it stand for 24 hrs - that way any solids will drop to the bottom - nice to know that nothing is wearing away  ;) then reuse it

done it loads of times, never had a problem
