supercharged a zetec? i need more horses and was wondering if anyone had ever tried, if so how much and what power gains did you get? ;D↲Sorry this is in the wrong place, everythings a bit small on my phone :(

Bulldog Bri

Martin with the Bulldog has done a Zetec conversion and would be your best bet for info on the subject... Also a mechanic at work has supercharged and injected his Pinto, so could also be useful  ;)

Yes Martin is doing some real no-messing converstion stuff. If he dosent come on for a while I will get some spec and estimated costs when I see him and post up.

I know its not just a question of bolting on a Supercharger, loads of extras are needed too including intercoolers etc etc.

I can also tell you that it aint cheap either :)

David H

you could swap the silver top for a blacktop and turbo it. Might be a touch but only a touch cheaper. What gearbox have you got? Changing the gearbox ratios if they are standard will make the power you have much more useable and is often a cheaper way of making your car faster. Best if you have  a type 9

power gains from supercharging are impressive. Talk to Omex

'The Gaffer'

Ok, I had a quick word with our club member Martin and as mentioned above he is going down a pretty serious route with his Zetec & Supercharger.

Apart from the supercharger he has opted for forged pistons and rods, a 2.1 litre rebore, throttle bodies, intercooler, new ecu and mapping, new cams and more. He should achieve 300-350 HP.

Cost? Lots ;)

I understand the job could be done cheaper, but with less power.

Thats a very similer root that i will be taking, Forged pistons and rods and a setup similer to the jackson racing kit in the US, however the aim is to make around 230-250bhp and keep it at that. however i am still in the collecting of parts stage, and building of car to put much effort in yet. but i've been planning it for years its just taking time. :)

MrFozzieBear

There is actually a really good book on the topic that tells you what works and what doesn't, its based around the US focus as a test bed but same rules apply. i'll look out the name of it later i can't remember of the top of my head.

I will  :), I've remembered the book its called High-performance Ford Focus Builder's Handbook ISBN 1-884089-89-5, it's not a how to book but more of a guide about what works and what doesn't from mild tuning to the superchargers and turbo. It's a good read if a library has it.
