Kit car show/ mega-meet and caravan rally - BBQ and music. Sunday 18th July 2010 (Previous threads deleted to avoid confusion)
Who would like a 50 mile A road run out to a beautiful old riverside ferry location to meet other clubs and kit car owners?
From Tewkesbury follow the road into Evesham. The first roundabout in Evesham turn left onto Boat Lane and follow the road down to Hampton Ferry.
This mega-meet is being organised by our member Denzle and events chief Bulldog Bri, and promises to be a great day out for owners, family and friends.
There is a restaurant with bar on site with open grassland along the riverside for you and the family to enjoy a relaxing great day out.
Denzle is trying to arrange a once/twice yearly meet/show for those who are interested, and it wont cost you a penny more than your petrol money :o.
Great location...

Note from Bri... Well, Its all good news. I had a word with the owner today. They have held similar meets before and a licence is not required. They also hold an indemnity insurance so everything is covered.
So the green light is on for a once/ twice a year meet/show. I will pay for advertising and arrange everything including guide markers to the show.
I think with a little clever organisation this could be a cracker of a meet for us all. Plus other clubs.
First of all, from the BKCC.
Who is willing to come for a great day out, to meet others and show off their cars. Family included.

Hi Ya Bri, I have already contacted the Warwickshire 7s and still going through my lists. They have a meet on that date but are very interested in Hampton ferry meet. So it might be next year they will come.
I am waiting for a reply after my telephone conversation with Jamie Jones last night. He is also putting the word around for anyone else that might be interested to contact me.

i just email the miss a link to this topic. LOL

It all sounds fun and tell Denzel I'll hold him to his promise or I'll be taking up his offer to 'smack his backside' :)
Colin
Any updates on this? (The event, not the slappings) :)
"Well" I really am upset.
I emailed 22 clubs around the midlands last week.
Not one reply, not even to say thank you for the offer to come.
Anyone would think I was charging £100 to get in. lol
So much for their interest in cars, but I am still trying my best.
It might be just a meet for those in the BKCC. At least it will be nice for them. >:( :'(
The kit car club scene can be very strange sometimes. Emails in my experience never work, the only way to get the word out is to join the forums and post the event.
PM me who you have contacted and between us and Bri we can try to promote this.
I`ll hold on the post, while I get to work on the phone.
Might be better to contact the clubs direct and possibly get an answer.
Will come back in a couple of days.
==========================
Still cant believe not one reply.
Have you tried other clubs, such as hot rod club, or other classic clubs.

Yep, I have tried all types of clubs. Still not had any replies.
Got good vibes from a telephone call last night, but still have to wait for the reply. :(
Are ACKCC interested? ::)

I did send Matt an invite for the run, but he felt that the club would think it a little to far to drive but would put it up on their site.

Here are some web sites from which I have emailed most of the clubs around the midlands. Within a reasonable distance of Evesham.
Its best to give you these rather than try to think which ones I have contacted.
Up to now I have still not received any replies from my emails, or from my phone calls.
It seems as though no one is interested, I just cant see why. Denzle. :( >:(
www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk (http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk) This lists lots of car clubs.

I will keep banging on even if it helps for next year, as this place is not only beautiful but will hold a few hundred show cars.
Damn shame, such a nice venue. I will try a few emails myself this week.
CLUB RUN TO HAMPTON FERRY (EVESHAM) Sunday 18 July
Anyone interested in taking a scenic route, starting near J18, M4, using great quiet driving roads, weaving a route across the Cotswolds ?
We could then meet-up with any others, just outside Evesham for a mass entry to arrive at 12:30 ish at the Venue.
count me in if weather is good! Do we know times and place where we are meeting?
P.S Also up for the scenic route!

Scenic Club Run to the Hampton Ferry ( Evesham ) day out & "mega" meet.
We meet at or by 8:45 to depart
SHARP at 9:00 AM
Directions to start meet-up
From J18 M4, take A46 SOUTH towards Bath.
Pass lay-by, then take first turning on Right, after end of dual carriageway, following large blue MOT CHECK POINT sign also large brown sign to P, WC, I and No lorries or caravans.
MEET in the public car park
Directions from Bath direction on A46,
As above except turn LEFT at big blue CHECK POINT & brown "P"signs.
I'll post details of the pre-Evesham re-grouping lay by later,
Peter
There is a roundabout before going left into Evesham from the South and the Cotswolds.
Before that roundabout there is a lay bye which has a snack stall on it, if this will help you meet before coming into Evesham.
After going left at that roundabout run down into Evesham, across the bridge, follow that road to the next roundabout, then turn left and keep straight on down past the car park on your right. After 100 yds it narrows to single bush lined road down to the ferry. Take care for anything on coming.
Tell all the friends you know, we could do with the support.
Next year though I will change the date for this meet, as I think its the wrong time of the year. Possibly then I can get more car owners interested.
See you there chaps.
Hi Denzle.
Yes, that's the Lay by I had intended to utilize for the final run into the venue.
Cheers, Peter ( another John Barlow car owner )
Sounds like a nice run, put me down, as long as the weather looks good.

Ah your just worried cause you ain't got your mudgaurds on ;) :D :-X
Don't take any notice of him Tony. You can come in a tin Top if its wet.
So can any one else if we're in for a bit of the wet stuff.
This also applies to anyone whose car is off the road or if you are still in a build situation.
Casino
"YES" "YES" "YES" Had my first reply from the Bromsgrove MG Club. ;D
They have a least six cars coming. That makes about twenty that I know of so far.
So rain or shine Wall nut, get the missus to hold a brolly if necessary. Over the car of course, It dont matter if you get wet. :-* ;D
The only time my missus held a brolly over my head, It was rolled up tight and coming down hard. Then all went black

Hi Tony. Will be pleased to pick you up on our scenic route. I will work out some meeting place options and approximate times that we will be passing. I will post them on this thread by mid morning tomorrow.
Cheers Peter
Here we go then, Tony ( Mrtone)
Our scenic run across the Cotswolds to Evesham takes us through the village of Daglingworth to Perrott's Brook, and passes under the A417 just north of Cirencester. There are slip roads off the A417,
signposted "Stratton, Daglingworth, Bagendon and Perrott's Brook" and you could park up, at or near the roundabout, direction Perrott's Brook, prior to our arrival between 10:30 and 10:40.
This meet-up point could also be used by members from the Swindon Area.
You will then be able to join our convoy for the 40 mile run to Hampton Ferry ( Evesham).
There will be a final meet-up at the Lay-by northbound on the A46 just south of Evesham ( anticipated arrival 12:15 - 12:25 ). This is to allow late risers and other members like Quarrycars to join us for the final run-in to the Venue.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 18th. Peter
Cheers Peter i will make sure to be waitingas the group come by. Thanks Tony 07788147997
Hi to all, coming to Hampton Ferry, Evesham. Sunday, 18th July.
If you have any car parts or items to exchange or sell, you will be able to set up a table and Gazebo next to your car.
Could be a good thing if the weather turns on us. Use it to cover the car.
Things are looking pretty good so far chaps, considering the short time in which I had to set this show up. Maybe it wont be a mega meet this year, but there are some very good things on the books for next year.
Next years date will possibly be towards the end of August after the main holidays. It will also be possible to make this a weekend show, Sat & Sun if anyone wants to bring a caravan and stop over.
Just to add....... The Hampton Ferry Car Show will soon be appearing on facebook and also at http://www.hamptonferry.com (http://www.hamptonferry.com)
Sounds good to me. ;D ;)
Nice work :).
Maybe next year with a bit more time to plan this really should be a mega event.
I have doubled booked myself for that day, air show at Fairford (I expect the roads will be packed around that area-don't know if your route back takes you any where near that). Will there be any trade stalls up there? I am looking for bits and pieces.

Sorry foggy,
I have asked Bkcc members to bring items for sale or exchange.
It was too late in the year to get this organised properly, but next year will be better.
The forcast dont look good for Sun. So dont wait for me at meeting place. I dont mind a bit of rain, but as Pete has already pointed out, with no mudgaurds it gets very messey for me and the car behind. Also makes me a bit of a target for Mr. Plod. And as for coming in the tin top, or tin box, in my case ( van ) It defeats the whole ideal of a run out. So if im not there have a good and safe day.
Tony
I'll be meeting you all there. as got some thing i need to get done in the morning so wont be able to make it intime for the scenic route.
See you all at one ish.

As you say Tony ( Wallnut), the weather not looking good.
Possible dry start nr. Bristol but then driving into light rain all the way to Evesham.
Without wet weather gear ( and mudguards) it is quite understandable if you give this one a miss.
So, given the likelyhood of a wet day, how many of you would still be interested in the Run-out ?
Your replies Yes or No please by 7:00 PM tonight. Decision to abort run or carry-on to be posted after 9:00 tonight.
Casino - Peter
I plan to be there, but I'm driving a tintop, looking forward to putting some faces (and cars) to the forum handles. :o ;D
If its going to rain then I will probably give it a miss....

Hi Kev,
Looks like a bit of rain as we leave, then as we travel north it clears completely to end up as a nice fine day all the way through,
go on you arn't gonna rust ;) ;)
Hi Guys, Thanks to those who replied.
We're definitely going.
HOPEFULLY WE'LL SEE YOU ALL AT THE START MEET-UP POINT
If you're in a "tin-top" make yourself known please.
Peter
Sorry, won't be going by the looks of it. :'( Hope you all have a good day and the sun shines for you.
Take lots of pics. so we can all get excited for next year.
Tony
Sorry guys, mid repair so cant make this one. Hope it goes well for those that brave the iffy weather.
This will be a good one for next year with plenty of time to plan in advance.
I'm gonna have to backout of this one as well :'( just got to much going on here at the mo and I'm nackered ???
:(
Looks like a lot of the folks I wanted to say hi to have dropped out so I guess we will too. Bloody weather >:( Will try to catch you all at another meet before we head back to AZ in October. ;D
im out look a bit gray out there
Hi Guys,
Tony (Walnut) and I have decided to pull out as well, looks like it is going to get worse over the day
Tony might pop up to the meeting spot to see you all off, if anyone is still going
dont forget your brollies
I turned up at meeting point ( Only 5 min. run for me) just to give my car a bit of a run and see everyone off, all two of them. (bloody weather) Peter had route maps printed out for everyone, had they turned up, and a great route it looked. Dave Bence, was the other brave soul. He always seems up for anything what ever the weather, and he has no wet weather gear, other than what he wears. I believe there are a few others who were joining them on route. I hope the drive up is as good as it looked on the map. At least the roads should be quiet on a rotten day like today.
Tony
Im on my way in few mins....
TUT....TUT.... :-\
I just been out and bought a large bag of chicken corn for all those who backed out. CLUCK....CLUCK....CLUCK ;)
"Well" you all missed out on a great day by the river, with not a drop of rain all day. 8) A little breezy though.
Many thanks to the four who did turn up from the BKCC It was great to meet you, plus all those from the Bromsgrove MG club, And all agreed it was a great day and a beautiful spot by the river to hold a show.
It was good to have a chat and see other cars and their engines, especialy the mini of YZFMINI, quite a brave piece of mechanics. Thanks for coming. ;D
Now its head down for me, to arrange next years mega show of which I will post a date later when things are arranged.
Have posted a few pics, for those who didnt come, just to piss you off. :-*
Bye the way, I didnt get my back side slapped either......Shame, I was looking forward to that. :P

Good to see that some did make it :-[ and the weather held off for you.
As you said a bit more planning and advertising it out in somemags even should makeit better next time. I've arranged a fair few runs and they aren't always well attended thats just how it goes.
Maybe you could join us for some of the run next weekend ::)

Sorry Bri,
Cant make it just yet. Lost a 4 year old grandson a couple of days ago, so things will have to go a miss for a while untill after the funeral. But thanks for the offer. I will drive down and meet up asap. Denzle.
Just to add......This is the loss of the second grandson in two years. 11 year old and this 4 year old. Very sad.
Sorry to hear your bad news denzle :(
Well done to those that made the run, it really looks like a great place.
Firstly, at the meet-up start, we thought that we were in for our normal "convoy of one", but then that stalwart, Dave Bence turned up and we were waved off by the crowds (thanks Wallnut).
We encountered a few light showers in the first hour but from then on it remained dry for the rest of the day.
Without a long convoy to keep together, we were able to move along at an enjoyable comfortable pace. Consequently, we were early for our meet-up with Tony (mr tone). Fortunately he was also early and as we had plenty of time, we stopped en-route for couple of large pots of coffee at a "posh" hotel.
We were even half an hour early at the final lay-by, where we pulled-in and regrouped for our mass entry ( Ha ha ) to the site venue.
For those that couldn't make it, Denzle had gone to great lengths to set up the site with cordoned off areas, notices, a small army of marshals with their day-glo jackets and walkie-talkie phones. Thanks Denzle, it didn't go unnoticed.
Fortunately, there was a good turnout from the Bromsgrove MG Club - what a cheerful bunch they were. Ironically, one of their number ( and his wife) we had met, and had lunch with them at a French Classic Car event last year !
It was a very pleasant venue and the food at the restaurant ( we went for the Sunday carvery) was both enjoyable and of good value.
I'd like to thank Dave and Tony for their company ( sorry about the unmarked humpbacked bridge Dave) and it was also good to see Colin and "miss" ( sorry, didn't catch her name) .
And finally Denzle, and I'm sure that this comes from all the club members, may we send to you our condolences on your recent family bereavement.
Many Thanks to all. I appreciate that.
