Gillingham & Shaftesbury Motoring Pageant 26th June 2011

Turnpike Showground, Motcombe, Dorset, SP7 9PL

The NEW Show from organisers 'Jason Lunn and Helen Morton', Classic car and bike show organisers with more than 34 years experience between them!

Gillingham & Shaftesbury Motoring Pageant, taking place at Turnpike Showground, Dorset on Sunday 26th June 2011.

Staged at the superb and beautiful Turnpike Showground near Shaftesbury this new show on the classics calendar provides the South West with a great and valuable day out for classic enthusiasts and families alike. With hundreds cars and bikes on show, clubs, auto jumble, general trade, a licensed bar, fun fair and so much more it's a day not to be missed.

As well as car and bike clubs, owners can enter their vehicles individually in the competitions. Also owners can enter vehicles in the 'Make and Model' section where cars of the same make and model are parked on show together (e.g. all Ford Escorts, Mini's, Aston Martin DB6's all parked together).

Jason Lunn said:
'We've been looking for the perfect venue to launch a Pageant event in the South West and Helen has found a superb location with Turnpike Showground who are giving us every support in bringing this new show to the region. We look forward to the South West showing us the best vehicles and club displays they have to offer and I personally am looking forward to working with Helen on this exciting event.'

The show also features Cars for Sale, Trucks, Tractors, Custom Cars, and more and with Helen's superb reputation with Auto Jumblers bookings for the jumble section are flying in.

Helen Morton said:
I've been stunned by the positive response to the event from traders throughout the country who have reserved space at the show. Already we have a significant size show and I am sure by working with Jason we're going to have a great event which will run for many year and I'm delighted with our new partnership'

'The Gaffer'

Hello Helen and a warm welcome to our club.

As a rule we usually frown on first post advertising, however in this instance because you were complimentary about our club and members I will let it run ;)

Not only that, the event could be of interest to the club possibly as a run out with club stand.

Lets see what the interest is, but in the meantime I will ad this event to our calendar.

As promised i took a few pictures at the pagent......enjoy:

There was only about half a dozen kit cars there mainly classics and American.  They had motor bikes, a few commercials and tractors as well as a Auto Jumble.

There was prizes for various groups ie. American, kitcars, restorations, coupes etc.....

No one entered the kit car one so i reckon i would have stood a chance. ;D

Nice GT40 8)

Funny story goes with this pic:

The car was made as a copy of the one that won Le Manns in 1966...so it said.

My neighbour, who i bumped into there upset the owner by telling him he got the colours wrong!  When he protested that they certainly were not wrong, my neighbour told him that he had actually worked on the original car as a mechanic in the 60's and had restored one of the other two that had raced at Le Manns!!!

He was realy pi**ed off. ;D ;D
